Images show an atherosclerotic plaque arising from left carotid arteries bifurcation and involving the proximal segment of internal carotid artery (arrow). Although sagittal-reformatted CE-MRA fails to show residual lumen, axial CE-MRA images demonstrated a severe (90 %) stenosis of left internal carotid artery; CTA confirmed the severe stenosis as well as the absence of ulceration
